Rise & Shine!
A gentle way to start your day
When the sun is rising and you wake up to a clear blue sky, it usually makes it easier to get up in the morning.
But, depending on where you live on the planet, what season it is, and what time you wake up, it could be anything from complete darkness to a bit murky when you first open your eyes (if you don’t happen to have a long and slow sleep-in morning☺️?).
You might not feel very motivated to get out of your cozy and comfy bed at that time, but despair no more – this super simple trick will help you start your day with ease and grace, all with a soft and gentle touch.
Let there be light!
So, if you have to wake up when it’s dark or at least not yet full daylight, what’s helpful is to have some kind of lighting that will kindly greet you in the morning and entice you to start your day.
But – the trick is to not have the lamp in your bedroom but in a place nearby, so you’ll see the light “out there”, while still in your bed. That will make for a cozy and inviting atmosphere to get up to.
Ideally, place the lamp in the room where you’ll end up, like the kitchen for example, as long as the light will still reach your bedroom.
And if your bedroom is on the second floor, you can have one lamp up there, and then another one downstairs in the room you’re heading for. It’s all about seeing the light from your bedroom and then move towards it, and not having to approach a dark room.
Here’s what to do:
- Put a lamp with a soft light outside your bedroom, but with the light still reaching it.
- Plug the lamp into a timer and set it at a time just before you want to wake up.
- Go to bed, and next morning wake up to this little light, wishing you a gentle good morning.
So this light is not about to wake you up, but to already be there when you wake up.
As someone living where it’s very (very!) dark in the mornings a big portion of the year, I promise this will make it SO much easier (and cozier!) to get up.
Okay, that’s it – easy peasy, right?!
Over to you!
